Description: Process Steps: This layer was created per legal documentation (petitions) submitted to the Planning department. These documents are used to draw and/or verify parcels to be released from the City of McKinney's ETJ boundary. Boundaries are often, but not always copied directly from the parcels layer. Per Texas law, individuals wishing to have their properties removed from the ETJ simply have to submit such a request. These cases are received by the Planning department and then submitted for review to the GIS department. This data is dependent on the most recent petition document(s) submitted by the resident or their legal representative(s). These documents may or may not contain all relevant information necessary to perform release; if not the Planning department/resident will be notified. Actual release of the boundaries from the ETJ are done in batches, approximately every 2-4 weeks.Last updated: August 2025Update frequency: ~every 2 weeksUpdate Scheduled: ~every 2 weeks
